Nourishing the Body of Light
A 5 day retreat in rural Wales.
Wednesday 5 September – Monday 10 September 2018.
Cost: £575 triple share, £595 twin share, £675 single
All curious yogis are welcome to join me at the fabulous Garth Barns Retreat Centre in Mid Wales. I am returning for a second time to this wonderful venue where we will be given a very warm welcome.
Join me to spend 5 leisurely days nourishing yourself with yoga, meditation and relaxation practices.
Our time together will be spent exploring some of the many teachings around the energy body. Learn about the vayus or winds of prana circulating through the body, the koshas or layers that form your whole, the gunas or qualities which form all of nature and much more. Begin to experience yourself as an amazing body of light and energy.
The Yoga – What to expect!
During the course of the 5 days we will enjoy 10 yoga sessions (around 20 hours of yoga in total). Weather dependent, sessions may be indoors or outdoors in nature!
Each day will begin with a 90/120 minute yoga session. This will be the days more dynamic, warming and opening practice to help you wake up to the day.
Our late afternoon yoga will generally be more restorative in nature and include more in depth breathing practices, meditation and relaxation/ visualisation and yoga nidra.
I welcome all interested yogis to join me on this 5 day retreat. The yoga will be accessible to all yogi levels including complete beginners. All I ask is that you bring an open mind and a willingness to participate, share and learn.
Non yogi partners are welcome to join the retreat and spend time exploring the area if yoga is not their thing!
Please note. This retreat is not suitable for people who are only interested in strong physical yoga as a variety of other yoga practices will be included.
The Venue & Area
The beautiful Garth Barns sits amidst the rolling hills surrounding the historic and pretty town of Llanidloes. Often featured in the top ten places to live in Britain, Llanidloes is at the heart of the ancient medieval kingdom of Arwystli and has to be one of the prettiest towns in mid Wales.
The first town on the River Severn this is a very picturesque and peaceful place with a good variety of characterful small independent shops, tea rooms and beautiful countryside to explore when you are not practicing yoga.
Our venue is a couple of miles from the town and comprises two beautiful barn conversions and a traditional farmhouse set on 200 acres of farmland. The heating is from renewable biomass and drinking water is from the farms own pure spring water source.
The barns surround a lovely courtyard area with a stream and outdoor dining area. In the fields close by there is a swimming and boating pond to use plus a camp fire area with log seating.
The yoga room is large, airy and spacious at around 90sq metres with a wooden floor and benefits from warm under floor heating fired by the eco biomass boiler.
This venue is newly opened in late 2016 and is owned and managed by the lovely Jane and Rowan of Huzur Vadisi who will be our hosts so we are assured of great quality and a happy hassle free stay!
Garth Barns is set on 200 acres of farmland with extensive views and plenty of walks in the hills and valleys right from the doorstep.
The rooms are light, comfortable and finished to a high standard with single, double, shared twin and triple rooms available. All but two of the rooms are en suite.
Wood burning stoves ensure the barns are always super cosy. Sitting rooms are available for chill out time with your book.
There is also a gym and a Finnish Sauna for your use!
Guests on my 2017 retreat were very happy indeed as the food at Garth Barns is wonderful! The weekend will be fully catered with tasty and plentiful vegetarian food. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner (on arrival day, dinner only, on departure day, brunch only)
Let me know if you have any dietary requirements and we will do our best to provide for you.

Things to do
In the free time between yoga you may like to explore the local area. Llanidloes is surrounded by soft mountain scenery which makes it very popular with wildlife enthusiasts and hikers. It is the closest town, and within walking distance, to the source of the River Severn whist the Glyndwr’s Way National Trail and the Clywedog Reservoir and Dam are also nearby.
A number of walks, such as the Clywedog Gorge Trail have been established around the Bryn Tail Mine workings and the Llyn Clywedog Scenic Trail. Guided walks can be arranged for anyone interested at a small extra cost.
The Clywedog provides a perfect habitat for wildlife with Buzzards and Red Kite a common sight. Tawney Owls and Pied Flycatchers have established themselves in the woods bordering the shore and Polecats, foxes, and short tailed voles may also be spotted.
For those who wish to join we will have an evening of Welsh myth and storytelling with a professional storyteller.
If you would like to pamper yourself and relax in between the yoga, massage and other therapies will be arranged.
You can also enjoy the on-site Finnish sauna and gym.
Arrival is from 4pm on Wednesday and we leave following breakfast on Monday by noon.
The venue is around 3.5 hours from London or 2.5 hours from Manchester by road or train.
For people travelling from my area of East Midlands, train travel from Birmingham is simple and fares are currently around £12 each way.
Travel by rail is to Caersws station.
I can arrange for you to be collected by taxi or minibus from the station. Please let me know if you are travelling by train as if several people arrive together the cost of the taxi/ minibus can be shared.
