Honouring the Five Elements of our Being
Finca Del Alamo, Almeria, Spain
Saturday 4 May – Saturday 11 May 2019
Cost: Twin share en-suite – £825 pp, Single en-suite – £945
This will be a creative, exploratory and fun week, offering varied, interesting and enquiring practices which will allow us to experience yoga or union in its fuller sense.
The elements form a huge part of who we are. They affect our experience of life in multiple ways. Everything in creation is made up of the 5 elements of earth, air, fire, water and ether. Learning how to tune into, and work with the elements brings a new vibrancy, depth of experience, enhanced awareness and a greater understanding to yoga practice…. and life in general.
As the body continously seeks to find balance in all of its complex layers, we can learn how to commune with the elements, their qualities and associations within the body to help find that elusive state of being.
Working with curiosity and the ‘beginners mind’ always, we will journey through the elements to help restore natural order, inspire the creativity of our best self and promote wellness.
The week will incorporate both stimulating and gentle hatha, yin yoga and accessible flowing yoga. Restorative and somatic work and yoga nidra will also be offered……a range of practices for all.
Who will this week suit? – Complete beginners to experienced yogis…all are welcome. All that is required is an open mind and a willingness to learn. For those with more experience there will be an opportunity to re-visit yoga practice with a new eye and use this to refresh, deepen and learn more!
If you have specific injuries or health issues please contact me to discuss suitability of this week for you.
Non Yogi partners – if you would like to bring a friend or partner who isn’t interested in joining the yoga, they would be most welcome.
Please note! This week is not suitable for people who are only interested in strong physical yoga. This will not be ‘boot camp’ yoga.
The Venue & Area
Almeria is Spain’s sunniest region. It’s proximity to North Africa means that the area is semi-desert, dry and dramatic with an imposing mountainous backdrop and dazzling sea.
Situated on the edge of The Cabo de Gata, one of Europe’s most remote natural parks, the area has one of the last unspoiled stretches of wonderful coastline.
Our ‘yoga home’ for the week is the wonderful Finca Del Alamo. This stunning house and outlying farm nestles in a peaceful and isolated setting yet is still within just 30 minutes drive of Almeria airport.
The main house which has long been a stylish bohemian venue for photo shoots has now been adapted to cater for yoga groups. Sitting within lush gardens, the house has won awards for its striking modernist design and has it’s own natural spring water swimming pool.
The cortijo standing 200 yards away from the main house, has been converted in the original local style into several apartments with sitting areas and kitchens. The cortijo has an outdoor yoga space and its own swimming pool.
A variety of accommodation is available:
Main House – double/twin and single rooms en-suite. All rooms are unique and interesting. Some have balconies or outside sitting areas.
Cortijo – 5 apartments with sitting rooms/kitchens housing mainly twin rooms which are all en-suite. These are situated a couple of minutes walk away from the main house.
Eating outdoors where possible on the lovely terrace, all meals are vegetarian, nutritious and delicious and served buffet style.
Tea, herbal tea, coffee and water are available throughout the day.
There is an honesty bar available for other drinks.
We can cater for people with food allergies or intolerances. Please make your requirements known when booking.
