The ‘Arrive, Be… Wait and See’ Retreat
A 4 day retreat in rural mid Wales – Y Porthdy, Penfford Las
Friday 5 November – Tuesday 9 November 2021
Cost: £600 single or shared
The venue and retreat will be COVID friendly with all precautions taken in line with current guidance. If Covid restrictions still apply in November, each room will be allocated as a single unless family or bubble members wish to share.
All curious yogis are welcome to join me at Y Porthdy, a fabulous new Retreat Centre in the heart of the Cambrian mountains. The venue, owned by Polly and Phil is currently undergoing a full refurbishment, and is the latest addition to work with the Huzur Vadisi team. They have come together to bring great accommodation and wonderful hosting to retreating yogis.
Join me to spend 4 leisurely winter days nourishing yourself with yoga, pranayama, meditation and relaxation practices.
The essence of a mindful yoga practice, is being present and aware. Our retreat will afford us 4 days of leisurely exploration of what it means to be mindful.
During the course of the 4 days we will enjoy 2 varied practices each full day, early morning and late afternoon. We will play with both active yang and the restful stillness of yin practices across the retreat, experiencing the effects of each practice on the whole self.
So we arrive … we succumb to the simplicity of simply being… and we ‘wait and see’ what shows up for us.
I welcome all interested yogis to join me on this 4 day retreat. The yoga will be accessible to all yogi levels including complete beginners. All I ask is that you bring an open mind and a willingness to participate, share and learn.
Non yogi partners are welcome to join the retreat and spend time exploring the area if yoga is not their thing!
Please note. This retreat is not suitable for people who are only interested in strong physical yoga as a variety of other yoga practices will be included.
The Venue & Area
Y Porthdy (meaning The Lodge) was a mountain activity centre in its previous life. It is now being refurbished to a very high standard to provide a fabulous yoga centre for retreats. Situated in the heart of the Cambrian mountains, the venue boasts large windows with expansive views of the stunning scenery, underfloor heating and a wood burning stove in the communal lounge area.
Such an idyllic setting for a retreat centre, Y Porthdy is situated by Penfford Las (meaning Staylittle), in the county of Montgomeryshire, Mid Wales. This is a wonderful area to get away from it all. The centre sits on a walking trail, the Glyndwr Way and is minutes away from the Hafren Forest with numerous trails leading to the source of the River Severn.
As you will see from the photographs the communal areas have lots of space and comfortable seating with wonderfully expansive views for mindful gazing… or chilling out with a good book
There are 10 newly refurbished rooms, some with cosy built in bunk beds and others with regular beds. While Covid restrictions apply, each room will be allocated as single accommodation only, unless family bubble members wish to share a room). Each room has its own private bathroom just across the hall… so almost en suite! …..Photos of the rooms will be coming soon.
There is a fully equipped yoga shala with plenty of room for social distancing if this remains in place at the time of the retreat.
For those who like a bracing swim, there is a wild swimming pool on the nearby river.
Sarah, our fabulous chef will be tantalising our tastebuds with delicious, nourishing and plentiful vegetarian food. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner (on arrival day, dinner only, on departure day, breakfast only)
Let me know if you have any dietary requirements and we will do our best to provide for you.

In the free time between yoga you may like to simply chill out. If you want to explore the local area. Llanidloes nearby, is a small town surrounded by soft mountain scenery which makes it very popular with wildlife enthusiasts and hikers.
Alternatively, walk parts of the Glyndwr Way, visit the nearby Red Kite centre or take either a 20 or 45 minute drive to the sea and beaches at Machynlleth, Ynyslas or Aberdovey.
If you would like to pamper yourself and relax in between the yoga, massage and possibly other therapies will be arranged if this is permitted.
Arrival is from 4pm on Friday and we leave following breakfast on Tuesday by around 10am.
The venue is around 4 hours from London or 2 hours from Manchester by road or train.
For people travelling from my area of East Midlands, train travel from Birmingham is usually simple to the nearby Caersws station.
